Read Jeremiah 29:11

God promises that He has a plan for your life. That He will not leave you out there hanging on your own. God has plans for us! As I mentioned yesterday working with the Hmong in those early years was not easy. There was prejudice, there was anger that these people had come to the United States and there was of course the misconception that they would take our stuff. Things like jobs, resources and educational opportunities.

There were calls during the night where some deep breathing would be followed by, “We are going to get you preacher. You are going to pay for bringing all those people here to the states. When you least expect it we will get you”.

But we carried on and I would make several trips each evening, in our 15 passenger van, taking the children home after church activities. As time went by I was getting increasingly anxious and paranoid because the calls, the letters, the graffiti on our building was getting more frequent and intense. Every evening I would say a silent prayer before and after getting everyone to his or her place of safety.

Then it happened! I looked in my rearview and there was a strange car getting really close to our bumper. I sped up and so did the ominous vehicle. I made it to the bridge and thought, “Now we’re ok because the housing is just past the bridge.”

Boy was I wrong because just as that thought crossed my mind a truck pulled up at the other end of the bridge blocking our exit. I’m thinking “Come on this is America this can’t be happening to me. This isn’t some kind of movie. This is just Danny trying to get some children home.” Then I looked in the mirror and sure enough the other car had blocked the back way as well.

But we must remember God promises He has a plan for us, “a plan to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”

Dear God, help me see the directions you want me to travel. As I move in pilgrimage give me hope and faith to serve to stay on the path. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

O Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on me. O Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on me. O Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world, grant me your peace. Hear our request for Your Presence….on this our path.
