Dear God of Peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful to share with family and friends.
We pray for those who serve now, especially in harm’s way. Shield them from danger and bring them home. Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and the labor of peace. So many have sacrificed their futures so we can be alive today worshiping and having the freedom to take a day off. Let us remember November 11th is not a vacation day it is a day to pause, to reflect, to give thanks for those who stand in our place so we can have freedom.
Today we honor all those who have served. I ask dear God that if possible walk with them and spare them so one day they too can form and march with that long line of veterans. May the peace you left us, the peace you gave us, be the peace that sustains, the peace that saves. Christ Jesus hear us! Lord Jesus, hear our prayer.
Today walk the path with a veteran and say “thank you”…..
