angelI took this picture last year in our Sanctuary. We have an angel tree topper and the sunlight streaming in through the upper window left this shadow on the wall. Now you can visualize whatever you want but here is what my mind constructed. I see the holy family leaning over an infant with God’s Light (an angel) watching over them.

Now you can say WOW preacher you’ve got some active imagination and you would be right. But I also take the time to look for the Divine in my world. Catherine Booth, co-founder of the Salvation Army said this, “There is no improving the future without disturbing the present.”

Today…disturb your moments with little miracles, acts of kindness and along the path look for those glimpses of when God breaks into your world. A picture, a smile, the unexpected thrill when a child places their little hand in yours. Today look into the shadows, open your life up to the small miracles. God will be there if you only pause for a moment of prayer and thanksgiving.

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you as the day rises to meet the sun. Amen.
