On a clear day this is the view a few streets over from my house. In winter after a rain the sky is clean and the beautiful Sierras just jump out at you. Of course most of the time its either too foggy in winter or there is too much smog in the summer and so you forget such wonder is only miles away.
As I gazed at this miracle the mountains reminded me of Mohandas Gandhi. Why? Well that’s how my brain works. “Mountain” became “Mount” which led to Sermon on the Mount which led to this spiritual leader. Why? Because every morning of his adult life this teacher read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. He was convinced it contained truth more powerful than any on earth. So he took the lessons learned in the scriptures and attempted to bring visual acts of peace to the pain and prejudice that divided the Hindus and Muslims in his beloved country.
So, with all that in mind look to the mountains. Look at the beauty all around you. Today pause and read with me:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” (Matthew 5:3-10).
Today lift up another to walk with you on the path. Rejoice again I say Rejoice!
